(CT) Shares recover from an 8-month low

The Colombo Stock Exchange on Thursday (14) recovered from a new 8-month low recorded on the previous day as the benchmark index gained despite foreigners continuing to exit the market.
The benchmark All Share Price Index on Thursday (14) gained 0.07 per cent (04.27 points) to close at 6,357.04 points, while the S&P SL 20 representing the top 20 listed entities gained 0.04 per cent (01.43 points) to close at 3,689.23 points.
LVL Energy Fund Ltd, which offered 120 million shares at Rs 10 per share to raise Rs 1.2 billion yesterday (14), saw its Initial Public offering oversubscribing on the opening day.

The day’s turnover reached Rs 1.23 million, higher than Wednesday’s (13) Rs 682.8 million, with 72 winners ahead of 46 losers.
Foreigners were net sellers on Thursday (14). Net foreign outflow during the day reached Rs 333 million, as sales amounted to Rs 800 million as against purchase worth of Rs 467 million.

Nearly 66.3 million shares changed hands on Thursday (14) during 3,030 trades taking place.
The share price of Ceylon Tobacco Company gained 1.12 per cent (Rs 11) to close at Rs 991 as 1,757 shares changed hands during 6 trades, Commercial Bank gained 1.41 per cent (Rs 1.90) to close at Rs 137 as 4,170 shares changed hands during 3 trades, while the share price of Carson Cumberbatch gained 1.63 per cent (Rs 2.80) to close at Rs 174.10 as 291 shares changed hands during 4 trades.

However, the share price of Hemas Holding slipped 1.69 per cent (Rs 2.20) to close at Rs 127.70 as 204 shares changed hands during 3 trades, John Keells Holding slipped 0.60 per cent (90 cents) to close at Rs 148 as 4.8 million shares changed hands during 220 trades, while the share price of Hatton National Bank slipped 1.19 per cent (Rs 3) to close at Rs 250 as 62,969 shares changed hands during 25 trades.
